Interestingly, their policy does not preclude spark/glow plug changes, filter changes, or other such minor maintenance. I also wonder if they would exclude interior work from that, as it is not liable to be messy in the same way that mechanical repairs would be. |

Clearly Ichris has been singled out here because he has been doing work on the car. Remeber, there are 30 visitor spaces that were all full, and his car specifically got this note. I assume the car is registered, what I would do is drive to a friends house or a wamart parking lot, and install the dash, and otherwise do everything to the car that makes it look fully drivable and in no way obviously being worked on, so there is no argument with the front office. With the dash out, its obviously in mid repair. Id do this even before talking to the rental office. Ichris, you can't get a second resident sticker? Most apartments I lived in like this, you could pay for another sticker. |
"All vehicles must be pulled forward into the parking spaces."
Odd rule to which I would not comply without them somehow forcing me to. My employer requires all company vehicles to be backed into parking spaces as they are self insured and statistically its been proved that one is much less likely to be in an accident backing into a parking space vs backing out of a parking space. I've found that to be true with my personal experience also such that I rarely pull my personal vehicles into a parking space. |
To be honest, I'm on board with this guy. If I was paying the same rent as you, there is no reason why I should not have access to a visitor spot. If I want friends and family to visit but they can't park because someone is hogging a spot with some crap box and the result of that was a friend or family member getting towed, I'd be pissed too.
This guy was way to nice as far as I'm concerned and mocking him on a forum is probably bad karma. Just saying. |
If someone parked in the visitor parking in a property I owned or managed I'd have them towed. The manager of your complex is down on his game, but the tenant since he or she has taken the time to write a note may also complain to the manager and so perhaps it will be towed.

X2 as twalgumuth, id be towing your car as well as soon as I officially have to deal with a complaint from another resident |

Not worried about the bad karma. I am trying to get this taken care of and take responsibility for using 1/30 spots. Quote:

Just went into the office. Got a second decal and have it parked in a resident spot now. I do feel bad now that I did not do that originally but they had told my friend they would only give one decal per resident. Glad it is taken care of and sorry someone got towed.

I think you were fine, and you did what you thought was correct, and were told was fine. the note poster obviously did NOT obey the rules... likely blatantly parked in resident spot without a tag, likely multiple times, and for extended times, because the 30 spots were full when he pulled in. in my condo, the spots are not reserved, nor do they have any tag requirements... certain times of night, the entire lot is full. before 9PM the lot is nearly empty... unless somebody is having a party... after that I may have to park on the moon.

I once got a ticket for parking in a handicap spot for 3 minutes when I was moving because I did not think they were enforcing them because others were parked there. Come back out and there is a $275 ticket on the windshield. I appealed the price, not the ticket because I knew I was at fault, but didn't get anywhere. :( That is how my parking lot is. It is nearly empty during the day but as the sun gets further away the cats come home. |

I hate slumlords,I mean landlords. They always make stupid rules, but never fix a tenants apartment right.
I'm thankful,I always bought a home the last 25 years,No matter where I move.I buy in the country where I can change my oil,and spill if I need to.Anyone with problems with landlord can fix their car in my yard |
