om617 m pump value
hello everyone. I'm new here but am building a new OM617 engine and want to do an M pump upgrade from dieselmeken. I need an M pump first though. I have found one in really good condition by the looks of it put the price seems steep. how much is reasonable for these pumps. MW ones seem more common so are cheaper but I don't need that one. thanks for the advice

They run about $100 plus shipping. However, you will need the steel lines and linkage. Without the latter two, you will end up being rather frustrated. I have a mod'd pump from Goran. So, when everything is said and done, look at spending over $1,500 for the upgrade.

thanks for that quick reply. this one is selling for just under $500 which I think it too much but wanted to check. I've read many posts about what cars to get these pumps off of but never really understood are they found on the 240D and 300D non turbo engines sold in North America or are they only from Europe (unless imported of course). any one have one for sale?
to be specific what linkage are you referring too? I figures spending $1500 to $2000 would be about right when all said and done. really it's not too bad when comparing to other performance upgrades on gas engines. I've seen people say $200. I sold one for $150 + shipping fairly quickly.
EDITEDIT: Sorry, I didn't notice that we were discussing M pumps. I have no idea what those go for.

I will track down the guys info. He's in VA. He has one for sale about every couple of months. I bought mine from him. I am guessing he has a wrecking yard. $150 shipped CONUS would be the max I would ever buy one. The accelerater linkage is different. So are the steel lines. As long as you head into the project knowing $1500 ++, up to $2,000 to $2,500, depending, then that's the way to go.

thanks greazzer. That'd be great if I could get that info. I'll probably pass on this one the. as it's way more than I want to pay and I don't think it was the high pressure lines. I knew I'd need that but the linkage is new to me. I'll have to read up on that but thanks for the heads up.

His name is Drew Gerhan. I will try to figure out his forum name. That was over 2 years ago, so maybe my info is stale. However, $100-$125 is the price range. Plus, keep in mind, it's a core or a core swap for a pump from Goran.

you won't find one in a 240, that you can use in a 300 anyway... my 240 has an M pump, but it's only a 4 cylinder motor, so not useful.
you'll need a EURO 617 motor to pull the pump from, the NA US vehicles came with the MW... as the M pump is a post 83 creation, and all US motors were TURBO (requiring the MW) or discontinued by 1984...

I don't see any point in doing this mod, unless you are doing it to a non turbo 5cyl....any other engine...its just useless....the only benefit on non trubo is it will give you an extra 10hp but since there is no alda or ada...I would think if you lived at a high altitude you would be burning more fuel or would have to daily adjust it..

thanks for the info vstech. I guess the 240 won't work!! didn't cross my mind when I wrote it but of course it's a four cylinder. that's what I suspected about the North American cars but now it's clear.
my plans are for a moderate power increase with bigger elements and a bigger turbo. I'm not looking for crazy otherwise I'd use a different engine. just want to use the potential this engine has in a safe way. |
