You think a 240D is slow? try zero to 62 in 40 seconds.

A 240D may be slow for some, but ever drive a 180D Ponton?

This would be a good one a Teenager`s first car.

60 years ago Mercedes Benz introduced the Ponton.

60 years ago: Mercedes-Benz launches the 180 (w120) | Ran When Parked

I saw my first Ponton in 1972. I was 7 years old. I'd drive one of these any day.

Thinking back on it, I think the first MB I ever rode in was in Hong Kong in 1964 when I was in the Navy. They used the Pontons as Taxi`s. I believe they were painted Ivory with Maroon fenders. They flew down those streets blowing the horn...better get out of their way.

The idealization of triple digit cars for daily driving is relatively a new thing....in our fast pace society fueled by the jealous of our neighbors bigger and faster cars.....have we really seen the inflex of 600hp grocery getters and suv's the size of small trailers....its really sad, the days of slow pace cruising is gone and fuel economy vehicles are gone....because of our american inbreeding we now need gigantic suv's for grandma and the soccer mom who insists on texting, doing make up and eating while driving and dad must have a fast pace sports car to show to his buddies....so he has the um bigger appendage....but lets not forgot....they must also have a pirus stashed away....to show that they are "green"

I love my slow, heavy well built mercedes....but I miss the times I could just cruise at 55 on the highway taking in the scenery...
