Truckteck fan disintegrated 99 E300

Installed new fan today drove one mile and all but one blade broke off.
Punctured radiator.
Blades failed at the root.
Anyone else have this problem with Truckteck?

Wow, sorry to hear that. What was wrong with the original fan?

It had a small chip 3/8" missing from one of the blade tips. It was missing when I purchased the car.

Some "German" companies are located in that country but simply rebox stuff made in China, for example:

Hans Pries / Topran
Trucktec
Meyle (some exceptions)
Febi
Hamburg Technic

And the perennial favourite, URO.

Sorry for your mishap. Put an ad up in the "Used Mercedes Parts for Sale and Wanted" subforum, someone may have a good used one (and a rad).

I drove for eons on a chipped blade OE MB fan, no problems at all - infact still have it intact somewhere - replaced it for a 11 blade one just because I found one for 10 bucks at the yard.

Trucktec & Hutchison hose fail in 2-years

Filled-up the W124's tank, and the next morning I noticed the tank was empty. Tapped on the fuel-gauge- Nothing changed. Lost $45.

Looked under car and the rear diff was soaked in gasoline.

Fuel hose (Trucktec Germany) going from 1st fuel-pump next‎ to tank and to the 2nd fuel-pump next to fuel-filter was leaking.

Hoses and fuel-filter were changed in June 2013, yet failed in 2-years.

Replaced with Factory OE hoses including Hutchison hose from 2nd fuel-pump already cracking, and put on 303-Protectant, and new fuel-filter.

We shall see...

I wonder why more Lemforder parts aren't available on this site. Oil cooler lines and upper control arms would be appreciated.

Someone please ask the next order you call in or I will and post response. It's much easier to buy from 1 place and not have to spend a bunch of time to save pennies or find a specific brand at a decent price.

Trucktec is junk, same as Uro, APA, FEQ, MTC, Hamburg-Technic, and a number of other junque purveyors. If the price is too good to be true, danger, Will Robinson.

Check out this list before buying next time:

Lemforder makes a lot of parts, but they don't make everything. Also, while Lemforder used to be top-notch stuff, they have been moving some of the manufacturing to China. Time will tell if the quality is the same or not. If you buy any Lemforder parts, take a peek at the country of origin... it might be made in Europe, it might not. Also depends how long the part has been on the shelf in the warehouse.

Disclaimer: I like Lemforder parts, and to date I haven't received any questionable / junk parts from them. Doesn't mean that will remain true a few years from now though.

All the Lemforder bits I've gotten so far made in Germany. Most of it is shipped directly from "ZF services" the owner of Lemforder, Boge and Febi brands. Often times its Lemforder on the box, Boge or Febi inside the box.

ZF does own Lemforder and Boge, I believe... however they have nothing to do with Febi whatsoever.

I've received recent Lemforder parts made in other parts of Europe, one sample shown below. I've heard some is made in China but I don't have pictures of the labels (yet).

I'm informed by very reliable sources (i.e. a person who owns a parts warehouse and stocks TONS of Lemf parts, old and new stock) that more and more of their stuff is being made in China, and marked as such.

Next time I visit him I'll take some photos of Lemf labels.

So far, the Lemförder stuff I've bought has been made in Europe, often in the former "Eastern Europe." I've not yet seen any Chinese-made Lemförder parts.

OTOH, a set of Meyle W124 front strut mounts (124-320-14-44) that I bought in early 2013 came in nice "Meyle–Germany" boxes but the plastic bags inside had "China" stickers on them. So far (2+ years) the mounts have been OK but I keep a close eye on them.

Jeremy
