While the finished product will no doubt be one hell of an achievement all I can see is the ruination of a classic.
I drive a W123 300D with SST turbo conversion as my daily driver. I spend a lot of time with owners of new merc diesels and I wouldn't confuse a 617 with todays Mercedes Diesels. They are incredibly fast and incredibly cheap to run plus they will run rings around a m110 engine in terms of torque and economy and make less noise under load to boot. .He has done a great job ( although the pics have gone from the thread) on a car which in this part of the world has practically no resale value. The torque is what is missing from the 280SL and by fitting a diesel he has built a type of car Mercedes has only just started selling in recent years.
Oh and the first 107 I had ever seen powered by a Diesel was a 560SL in India which had a nissan diesel fitted....

I want one. What an improvement to a classic. I wonder if enough of us could buy a kit to make it worth while for druk and mach4 to fabricate brackets and such we would need and put together installation kit for 617 and 606. Whose in? I'd like one of each probably. depends on total cost.

Man, just read this thread again. Such amazing work. I always do some cleaning when I remove a part, but I ENVY those who are able to make an entire engine bay look brand new.

I noticed that most all pics are on photobucket site.
So I began downloading the pics.
It'll take oo long on my phone. When I get home, I will upload all pics to the forum.
