1986 Mercedes 300 SDL Will Not Start... Please Help!!!

Good evening all,

I have a 1986 Mercedes 300 SDL, 280,000 miles and it is not able to start. The car had beed running fine, and the battery is fully charged. The alternator is recently rebuilt. After driving her home one evening, I went out the next morning to go to work. The car would not start or turn the engine over. The glow plug light did come on , as well as all the normal dash lights. The only peiblem is that once the glow light went out, the engine would not turn over. Nothing, it just sits there with the dash lights on.

I had been experiencing a slow battery drain, but I always kept the battery charged. Not sure where to start looking? Any suggestions would be helpful. If there is anyone that could help. I don't think it is anything major.
