Cold weather starting idea
If you are trying to start an W123 in cold weather where you can't plug it in or whatever, would filling the big spin on fuel filter with something like the white Power Service cetane boost stuff be a help, or do you run the risk of damaging something since it's intended to be used diluted with diesel fuel.
Also I owe whunter some pictures!

Last cold snap (well, it's not over). My current 616 doesn't like to start in the cold at all. Village didn't like it parked in the yard so I used the small (maybe 9" x 18" x 4" deep) propane grille got for father's day or my birthday. Used a large cookie sheet to prevent disaster by ensuring any flammable drippings would stay away from the flames. Back an hour later, peachy keen. Man that propane bottle was cold.

Running as much as a filter full of straight PowerService will do no harm.

Use Power Service to fill new fuel filter when changing filter. Better than dirty diesel fuel and should help clean fuel injectors. No problems in 25+ years.

I would not touch a filter on a car I'm trying to start in fridgid temps... air could creep into the problem... perhaps when you are shutting it down, and it's still warm, you could do it, then purge the air well, but if you start it, the filter will dilute VERY QUICKLY...
