Obsessive Compulsive Fabrication Tendencies
I guess the usual thread of this subject would be called obsessive compulsive modification tendencies, But im not the usual.
Since I was a kid I first learned how to first mold stuff in a heavy duty production environment and then later started doing models. What was intriguing to me about composites was--you didn't have to be Fisher body in order to make body parts. And for me-- every thing was aimed at custom early camaro's---The first car that really was the target of all kids of aftermarket parts. Around 20 yrs ago I did a custom front airdam for my 68--but was never really happy with the way it ended up, the main reason I ended up doing this benz dam was--- the euro wraparound bumper was remarkably like an early Camaro bumper, and this part would be a great starting point for the one I had wanted for the 67-8 camaros. http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/...s-imag0030.jpg http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/...d-imag0139.jpg |
more,

That middle flat pad is a little more pronounced than the AMG part and is good for personalized initals. |
I totally agree.
I have the bumper off my euro right now, and I've SERIOUSLY wanted to find a decent replacement... got pics of it on the car? I think it looks FANTASTIC! |
I was just trying to log in, and repair the links you have to the pics, but you must be editing it also... it changed when I refreshed the page...

No images showing up. EDIT: one image showed up 5 minutes after I wrote that....
If you are ever in the mood to write up a DIY on this stuff... I am very interested (will go to YouTube later to see what I can find).... |
OK Zac doing a DIY install thing probably tommorrow. I dont do DIY's of pattern tooling.
As far as the kits -- I was planning on doing unique side rockers with the front splash deflector (at the rear of the front wheel well), but that would mean each would override that little piece of black trim that goes along the bottom of the fenders. So , for expediting the kits and clipping a little bit of labour intensiveness im just going to do my version of the regular AMG style sides- that just ride along the underside. So, the kits will be avalable for 300d, td and cd. The front pieces wil be done to fit the euro wrap around bumpers , and also a version to fit the US spec battering ram bumper with its rubber ends. looks like dioing the sides the easier way--ill be able to keep the 3 piece kits at $600.00 and there should be some kits happening early in march! |

Nice work panZZer can you make me a fibre glass hot tub insert? (That's what I'd be doing with fibre glass if I were you - a jacuzzi costs 12K+ here => wood + fibre glass plus a few pumps != 12K) |
America is full of that stuff, im an automotive artist - i dont dig the mundane utility stuff, i did work in a tub factory once building acrilic vaccum forming tooling--no more for me. Only stuff i want to do- like hot rod stuff . $12.5 for a tub dosent happen in America more like $3000. if it did bring that kind of scratch ide have to do industrial stuff.
