PanZZer SS aero package installation

Greetinz here is a little tech thread installing my new action acessories for the venerable beasts of burden-the w123's.
the first thing I did was trim an 1" almost off the top of the airdam overlay area where it fits up to the body behind the bumper, drill out the stock mounting holes ad gring any bumps/lumps in the laminate flush so it would fit as i designed it too.

since I literally built this pattern on a car I already knew the front tiedown loop under the front bumper was a bit too low and would need to be tweaked up about 3/4" before proceeding so i got some wood blocks and my hydraulic jack and commenced to correct its position.

After that I slipped the fantastic faring up into position and it sorta clicked into position........ giving me a definate deja~vu sensation, i was transported back to my childhood for a moment at the kitchen table,,,, with the latest snap together car out of my box of apple jacks!

the euro bumpers are the 3 piece wrap aroud kind and use their own unique trim that fit up behind.

man, talk about some craZZeee picture loading,, oh well you get the picture, anyway I made sure to oil up those threads on the rubber trim holding brackets first (they tend to seize/snap off and you gotta go in and weld in some new studs if you dont take care of em!) the little potmetal wedge insert spacers are the same for US or either of the two euro style front bumpers.

My design has rear shield flaps that seal off the backside of the faring-to keep mud and debri from getting slung up in there by the tires, I still have not seen that view of the original AMG part so i dont know if they were that way, I do know that because the mold required the flap --molding the compound curved sides of this front faring is a magor ***** becaus the production dude is working from the inside --in a blinded hole, hard to even get some light on the subject, much less the materials and brushes rollers back in there.....

PanZZer,

Could you please see if those rubber end pieces have a part number. I have the metal pieces which go on each fender (creates the slot for the metal prong on the Euro bumper ends). Also, looks like there is a special type of plug or washer-like grommit deal which goes on the inside of the fender since there is a pretty big hole where the bolt from the metal piece goes thru.

Thanks in advance

Correct Tristen, i have a spare pair of coils and definatelt can use input on how much, 1 coil etc to trim.

And yea vintage forum is not ideal--but neither is diesel discussion, mostly a bunch of the frugelest in the automotive world hangin there trying to get their old heaps thru the end of winter. I cant see any prying their wallets open for hand crafted works of auto art, half the bozo's bottom feeding on ebay feel they are entitled to name their price and demand free shipping,, they cant fathom what someone goes thru to actually make something like this happen, and choose to act like ignoramouses scouting typical chinese container ship commodities

Greezer the rubber trim pars # will have to wait til I demount to make the first modified faring ( double custom) for the US bumper cars. ~ thats after the rocker covers are happening.

looking at the amg stuff-it looks like those 3/4 " gaps under the sides of the bumper might have been done ententionally to fit either the wraparound or the US battering ram rubber end covers- my part fits the euro exactly with ZERO gap--im tickled to death with the way it rocks _ i instantly become a bad guy from an old episode of Miami Vice

the gismo that you described does not exist --only that potmetal wedge spacer--and on one side i had to grind it down a 1/16th just to catch a thread.

I think the problem you have with cost and selling price is a marketing one - explain and show why it is "so expensive" and I'm sure some people will understand that actually for the work involved and the quality of the product you produce it is in your opinion a fair price.

Good quality pictures will help - show us what ya got (big boy).

Oh SWEET! I like it . Very nice work.

What exactly is the purpose of this sort of air dam? I assume it helps airflow somehow, but how?

I doubt seriously the rubber pieces are still avalable but I bet strech could source some--and even ship for asomewhat hard to handle $$ for as little as they are.
