The head weighs about 70 pounds a complete head (with valves, springs, rotocaps, cam tower/bearings, camshaft, etc., etc.) weighs 93 pounds. A crate to ship the head in would probably weigh 6-10 pounds for a total weight of say 80 pounds to use to find out shipping cost.

Good find Greg! A guy in my area wanted $250 for a used head that needed a complete rebuild. This head has what looks like new valve guides, so that cost is taken care of. No prechambers and related hardware, perhaps other stuff, but you can take missing items from the old head and put it on this one.

Take note, the seller says the head is for a turbo that has different prechambers than the non-turbo engine.

The valves in the head I just removed look real good. Given that this new head on Ebay has valve guides, can I just pop my valves in (after grinding, if needed??) I would need to lap them too?? Ive never done any of this work, so I really dont know what to do.

You will need to email the seller to see if the guides have been reamed or not. If they have been reamed to a standard size then your old valves may work - it depends on how much wear the valve stems have. Measuring the valve stems requires a micrometer. Perhaps the seller can also measure the guides, that is, if the seller has a micrometer. If the stems have little wear and the guides were reamed to a standard size, then you'll be OK. If the stems show wear, then the size of the stems will need to be subtracted from the guide's ID to see if they are still in spec. If the guides have been reamed, then measuring and matching valves to guides can be done to get the best fit. If the guides have not been reamed, then you can have a machine shop ream them to match a particular valve since the stems will probably have different diameters. M-B valve stem to guide clearances are tight, esp. when compared to Detroit engines. If everything checks out, then resurfacing the valves, if needed, and grinding the seats, if needed, followed by a lap job should do the trick.

Technically this seller is claiming this head is NOS... meaning NEW OLD STOCK.... so it should be stock out of the box..... so if your valves are not worn too much , or are not oversize stems from a prior rebuild.... you might have what you need in this head.... Greg
