79 300 CD Mercedes not turning over

Hi guys,
I am at a loss. Until last night, actually 05:00 this morning my beloved Benz started like a charm. About 3 weeks ago I replaced the starter. Everything was OK until about 30 minutes ago.
The glow plug lite comes on, goes off.....nothing, no click or anything.
The battery is fairly new, the lights come on, the windows and roof works but no turning over.
Any help ,hints tips would be greatly appreciated.
THANKS

The wire to the starter selonid may have came lose, this had happened to me.....or you may be having NSS issues. First thing I would try is to look and confirm that wire is attached and then see if you can jump the starter, if it starts....there is an issue in a switch

NSS = neutral safety switch, connected to your shifter linkage. A usual suspect.

Have you tried moving the gear selector to neutral to attempt to start it?

Where did you source the starter you installed? Lots of reports on this forum from guys who had stuff from the auto parts mchains (like AutoZoo) fail within months of installation. One guy went through three in I think a year.

Not all rebuilt starters are the same quality.

Make sure your battery terminals are tight.

^^^^^ what he said.

Also make sure they are clean. Ditto for the ground strap to the inner fender.

It is surprising how little oxidation or dirt on battery posts and cables can result in a no-start.

Thanks

Hi,
Well, the starter came from a reputable local re-builder, don't think this is the issue. Since the car is parked on the street near the curb I will have to wait till tomorrow and see about the other suggestions.
appreciate the feed back.
happy Saturday and happy wrenching.
Chris

Thanks for the feed back.
Will try the whole list. Unfortunately the car is parked (as usual) close to the curb and a B... to move by hand.
Thanks again, happy Saturday and wrenching!
Chris
