Part Identification
I am attaching a picture of a small black box to the right of the Windshield washer fluid reservoir. I believe there should be several vacuum lines running to it but they are not there.

that is your overboost solenoid. it's there to prevent a dangerous condition if the wastegate sticks, and gives you more than 15psi of boost... it's a common collector point of soot, rendering the engine very weak... rather than cleaning the soot out, many driver's or mechanics just bypass it, thinking it does not need it...
it does not get any vacuum lines, it gets MANIFOLD PRESSURE hoses, routed through it, to the alda, and the transmission tranducer "blue flying saucer"
