Any difference between 86 e300 and 87 300D transmission?

Any difference between 86 e300 and 87 300D transmission? Local e300 trans available, is the gearing the same between the e300 in 86 and the 87 300D? any other differences I should know about?

Hmmm... There is no such thing as an 86 E300... It'd be a 300E... The E300 came out in 94...

Do you know what motor it had? 2.6 or 3.0?

Either way, the valve body would be different from the diesel, as gassers did the second gear start... Possibly other differences as well, but it WOULD fit to the diesel motor.

The E300 Diesel was offered in Europe in '94/'95. Likely this add sounds like a rip-off or a highly uneducated brainiac seller that 300Es are "E300" which is common on online ADS.

By the way I think you're making a smart choice rebuilding your current transmission. I and others I know, have much more luck rebuilding our own than we have had Craigslist rebuilds. It also makes for a much more learning experience. Once you rebuild the 722.3, it becomes second nature and is cake if you do your second trans.
