MB E300 TDT - plastic impeller in water pump (cooling) broken...
So my engine boiled over. I stopped it. Heard the engine boil in the water system.
Removed the head, and had to replace the gasket and plan the head. Mount back on. Lots of work. Lots of $... Got the engine running, and was overcautious. Used my hands to feel the heat and the cold of the water lines. The radiator didn't turn warm, the hoses were just a little warm. So I turned it off. Checked the thermostat. It's working. Removed the water pump and found this... (se attached image) Who puts a plastic impeller inside a big straight 6 diesel engine? I opened up my E290 TDT and removed the water pump from it. It's a metal impeller and seams like the exact same pump else where. So my plan is to put the old E290TDT's water pump inside the "newer" E300 TDT. What you think? |

Not sure that is an original water pump from MB. I don't think they use plastic impellers.

I really don't know. But the plastic impeller has a typical Mercedes parts number: A605 200 00 04
