Help identifying some hoses

Hello,

In working on my 85 300td wagon today, I noticed some items that need to be replaced.

Could someone assist with either the part number or part names for the items circled above?

1) For the top circled one, it goes to the top of the valve cover which got chopped off. The plastic tube portion in the top right is always slick with oil so I wanted to replace the setup. Working my way down from left to right, I know that the piece that connects it to the valve cover is the crank case breather hose (6170160281), but thats all I can find online. Does anyone know what the rest of the parts are that lead all the way to the air filter cover? In looking at AhausAZ, they also had a crankcase breather pipe (6170100370) but it doesn't look like any part that I have currently.

2) The bottom circled item is a hose of some sort that I believe has a metal connection at the end that connects somewhere to the front. The hose is starting to split so I thought a good time to replace. What exactly is this line?

Thanks in advance for the help!
-John

You have the 85 CA edition vehicle... Only made in 85, and only on CA sold cars.
Use the startek vin lookup at the dealer or online to get part numbers...

Awesome. So the top one looks to be P/N 6170100570, which through initial searches is no longer available anywhere.

How difficult/costly is it to switch what I have into the federal edition?

Still trying to navigate through the EPC online to find out with the other hose is that is splitting. Thanks for the help VSTech, this is great. I just gotta be careful cause theres annotations in certain areas that say not for CA, or only up to 84.

Not sure about the Federal switch, but a different manifold would be a guess, not really practical.

EDIT: The epc was created by German IT folks that didn't seem to have a clue! Good luck.

You will need the Federal Manifolds, 82 - 84 300D/CD & 78 - 84 300SD. 78 & 79 300SD do not have the EGR, give it a cleaner appearance.
You will need the Federal Down Pipe 82 - 84 300D/CD
You will need the Federal Oil Supply line from the Oil Filter housing to the Turbo, 82 - 84 300D/CD
Federal Air filter housing.

The upper Oil Pan on the Kali Kar does not have the tube for the oil drain from the Filter Housing. You will have to have a catch can for the Blow By gasses, Or plumb the Blow By into the U-Tube from the Turbo like the 78/79 300SD were.

Not sure if you can clock the Kali Turbo around to line up with the manifold. if not get a Turbo from a 83 or earlier. the 84 & 85 have the ARV valve cast into the turbo housing.

You can still use the Kali Filter housing, you will need to 180 the air supply hose to the Turbo, and plug off some holes where the hoses connected.

You will also be able to deep six the trap oxidizer.

This may be more trouble that it is worth to some, but take it up a high elevation with the kali equipment, you will have to get out and push it up the hill. Even our 240D would be faster.

Hi Charlie,

Sounds like although it might be quite a few parts to hunt down, it might be worth it to do. I'm not in a rush so I'll try to look for the parts that will give me the cleanest setup while not inhibiting performance.

Will try to call you later today to discuss.

Thanks,
John
