there is a used car lot that is selling a 300SD at NADA price. looks nice 116k. Does the 300SD I6 have any major issues to be concerned about?

For starters, it's a W140, which most cheapskate dieselheads will take to be a bad thing. Second, it came with the 3.5 liter rod bender engine. Not all of them bend rods, but many do. I personally wouldn't walk away, I'd run.

If you like the car look the engine over for a mercedes replacement engine tag... Drive it and look for the oil cloud... Offer $3500 and mention the rod bender fiasco. He may be tired of the car.. Also, don't let the dealer tell you the glass is bulletproof its just double pane glass...

I agree with VS....bout 3500 if its a really nice car. If the engine has been replaced with t 3 liter I might go if the condition of that motor could be documented.

On the front of the engine between the water pump and the vacuum pump on the 617. Don't know for sure about this engine.

7k is waaaay too much. You can buy a reeeally nice 2001+ low miles E or C class for that or less.

yes, that's what I am talking about. pray you have that tag... then it's a fair deal for the car, but I wouldn't want the 140, from a PIA standpoint.

No joy at the use car lot, no tag on the motor, the fuel injector was weeping and he flat out lied about the car ownership history among other things.
