vacuum yellow w/ black line 1982 240d

Hello, i am trying to figure out how my 2 yellow lines that come from the engine bay should be plugged into that nipple looking thing.

I have the one yellow line and the one yellow line with black stripe. I know the yellowBlack line goes to a tank in the back of the car but i am somewhat confused about how these two lines should be connected (inside the engine bay). I see that the main vacuum line goes into a yellow nipple looking thing that has two vacuum ports in the back. It would make sense for each yellow line to occupy one of those two ports, but i have noticed in some of the vacuum diagrams on this site, the two yellow lines actually go to only one of those ports and have a rubber fork off of that one port.

Is this correct? Or should each yellow line occupy one of the ports on that plastic nipple. (and if so which side for which?)

Thanks

In my 1985 300D both of those lines connect to the yellow check valve.

This may help?

Aside: Use of the zip ties is a good idea if your rubber connectors are old. If you can easily pull the vacuum lines out of the connectors, or they are oily at all, you need to put on some zip ties or to buy new connectors (they are really cheap).

so in that diagram both yellow lines go to a for rubber connector from the left side of hte yellow item. The black line is then for something else.

on my car i saw on the big yellow thing, one yellow line going into each spot (not into a fork).

on an 82' 240d.. should it be the same setup as in that picture?

Well the photo should answer your initial question, no the two vacuum lines don't each run into their own port at the back of the yellow valve.

The vacuum line colour codes are the same throughout the model lines.

Over the years in many instances the cars end up with the vacuum lines connected in various odd ways. Sometimes they work, but that doesn't mean the arrangement is correct.

so in pic 7 i am a little confused about the vacuum lines.

the brown w/ blue stripe is for engine shut off.

the green w/ yellow stripe is for climate control

the nipple thing holds stuff for the door locks.

but what is that straight brown line for?

also in pic 8.

the nipple has two ends coming out of it. One end i have plugged with a golf tee and the other i just have the reservoir connected to it(yellow/black) (the main yellow line to the door locks is leaking so i disconnected it). What is supposed to go where the golf tee currently is? ALmost all diagrams i see (like the one posted earlier in this post) have the reservoir and the main vacuum door lock going into a rubber fork connector which only goes into one side of the yellow nipple.

Thanks!

thanks zacharias.

the last thing i guess is that nipple thing. For the life of me i can't figure out what goes on the right side of the end of that thing. It seems from almost all photos and diagrams that on the 2 ports on the back, the left port should have a rubber fork that connects to both yellow lines (yellow straight to door master vacuum control and yellow/black to reservoir) and then on the other port something else... but i have no other vacuum lines to connect??

am i missing something important here? Maybe the fact that my car has an EGR ( that i have disconnected) that requires/does something different?
