1987 300TDT diesel fuel thermostat bypass?
1987 300TDT diesel fuel thermostat bypass? I have a leak at the plastic cover ends of my diesel fuel thermostat. Not sure if if its the o ring or a cracked plastic connector. I want to temporarily bypass the unit. Do I just take the fuel line with the in line fuel filter and attach it it to the base of the lift pump? Do I need to plug anything on the thermostat unit?

Yes, connect 43 to 3 and bypass 86. Do not need to plug anything.

Thanks for the info. Knock on wood but I think that fixed my intermittent stalling out. Must have been occasionally sucking air. There definitely was a leak of fuel from the unit where the plastic nipple mounts in with the clip. I am going to leave it bypassed until I get my splined socket to do my delivery valve seals and tackle everything in one afternoon.
I will know more in the morning when I leave for my morning commute ![]() Last edited by neumann; 01-07-2015 at 08:00 PM. |
