Tool Review

I'm not sure if this has been discussed here before. For those of you who have OBD1 equipped cars (190, 124, etc), here's a handy gadget:

Mercedes Benz Diagnostic OBD1 Code Reader - Mercedes Diagnostic OBD1 Code Reader

I've been playing with it a while, and it works well. It's not exactly rocket science...anyone with a bit of electronics knowledge could cobble this up...but it's a neat package, and comes with lots of documentation. Even if you know how to do this with a bulb and a couple of clip leads, it's nice to have something more tool-like to work with.

The tool is handy, and has been reviewed many times.

You may find more helpful diagnostic data on his website.

So, again, this OBD1 tool doesn't appear to have been reviewed before. If I ever get an MB S500 or other OBD2 Merc, I'll keep K6JRF's page handy. But then, his price for a list of codes is more than Rick's price for the list AND the tool. None of this is mysterious...a bulb and a switch is all that's needed to duplicate the functionality, and you can dig through the service manuals for the codes...it's the packaging that makes it worth a look.
