Priming Self-Priming Injection Pump? 190D
I was doing the 48k km service on the Benz today, inc. replacing both fuel filters. However, I forgot to refill the main spin on fuel filter with diesel before putting it on.
The car started with the old fuel, then quickly died. 2 min of cranking (tried it 7-8 times) did not get it started - felt close a couple times. The clear inline fuel filter has fuel in it. I'm recharging the battery now (was down to 12.18V). The Benz manual says the injection pump is self priming, but I'm wondering if I might have put so much fuel in the lines that it can't self-prime? If so, should I crank the engine over with the injection pump's hard lines cracked one at a time until it bleeds a little diesel? Other suggestions? Bruce 132k km Benz 1989 190D

If the filter is full of fuel, cracking each injector line at the injectors then cranking until the air is out, will get you going.
