Foot rest/dead pedal solution or fix?
I'm sure I'm not the only one that has this problem so I am wondering. Is there a way to replace or retrofit a new dead pedal or foot rest. What I am talking about is the plastic piece that your left foot should rest on when driving. After 25 years the plastic has become destroyed and is totally gone. I would really like to know if I can replace this piece or if someone has come up with a creative solution to build one to put in?
Car in question is 85 300SD. Thank you!

Man, i've needed the same thing for the same car for a couple of years now. I finally came across a 420 sel with my red interior in the JY, but alas, no dead pedal. I'm always looking for that red stuff, see my sig

I have my dead pedal, it was in a bunch of pieces when I bought the car but I glued most of them back together. But for the life of me I can not figure out how it fits in my car. I think it might be missing some key piece or something. Is it possible anyone could post or send me a couple pictures of theirs installed in their car? It would help me greatly to have a visual of it installed.

OK, I have to go out and look in my floorboard. Never knew it even had a dead pedal. Although I remember pressing a switch on the floorboard of US cars to dim the lights way back years ago.

It took me about eight years to realize my car even had a dead pedal. I still haven't used it for anything. What do you do with it?

In a W123 the foot rest it is riveted to the driver's side kick panel; you have to unbolt the hood release lever and the kick panel and foot rest come out together and you have to be very careful to slide out the kick panel in the right direction and be super gentle to avoid breaking it (I think it slides straight out the back; there are metal clips that are hooked onto some pretty robust plastic tabs; break one of those and it tends to take out the whole kick panel).
I'm not sure if the W126 is the same but those cars do have a lot in common. I've picked up a couple of these for 123's at the boneyard - that's also a great way to practice getting one out and to see how the clips work.
