Odd fuel level sender problem
Everyone,
I had an odd thing happen a few days ago when I was pulling my fuel level sender out of my 1986 300SDL. The enclosing aluminum tube slid off and sank to the bottom of the fuel tank! I guess the nut on the bottom came off and everything fell off. I had been having trouble with the low fuel light being on all the time and the fuel gauge fluctuating wildly. I guess the tube having slid down was making contact with things and causing all of the unusual behavior. So my sender unit works fine; what I need now is a tube, the bottom plates and the nut from the bottom. I still have mine, but they are at the bottom of my fuel tank. I don't want to go looking for another functional sender; I just need some random parts. I have posted this request to the Parts Wanted area; I hope posting it here also might get me a wider audience. If you have a broken sender, I'd be interested; PM me.

Drain the tank and fish the parts out. Be creative and think outside the box? You can do it!

But, but...
But the parts are inside the box!
