loosening the injector nut will not stop the shaking, it'll only help isolate by not altering the shaking as much as the other nuts do.
the only thing loosening injector nuts will stop is a banging from a bad injector... |
could be motor mounts.. they are not new.
just trying to see if that much vibration is normal for bad motor mounts or a sign of something more severe (or different) before i start going out and buying more parts. |
just ordered new motor mounts. The package comes with 2 (for the front). Do i need to get something for the rear? Is there a rubber transmission mount or something that i need to buy as well
|
Yeah, there's a mount for the transmission back where it joins the driveshaft. I just did mine and it was pretty easy. Good time to inspect the flex discs and center bearing (which I also replaced at the same time).

ok update.. replaced my motor mounts. It made a HUGE difference, but there is still some shaking. The car vibration has improved dramatically but i can still feel the shaking a little when the engine is cold and at idle. Overall though the car is running much much much much MUCH more smoothly.
I think the next step is maybe another compression test? http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800...540/6vcPO8.jpg |
Rough at start up is still probably glow plugs, go thru the glow plug system with a fine tooth comb!!!
Check wires fuses, glow plugs, clean all connections. Your fuse for the glow plug relay is inside the relay box itself ( or at least they are on an 85). Flat metal piece between two screws inside the relay box. Glad it's running better, you've done enough work!!! Nice isn't it? Post a few pics!!! |

Fuel Pressure Relief/Overflow Valve good pic an stretching
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/356193-adjusted-fuel-bypass-spring.html Long thread on the subject. http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/234609-fuel-pressure-relief-valve-adjustment.html Also what is you idle speed when the shaking is going on. You might find that raising your Idle speed helps. Also you can get rebuild kits for the Fuel Supply/Lift pump on eBay. The real Bosch ones are around $30-$35. Fuel injection pump starvation with a good lift pump http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/247039-fuel-injection-pump-starvation-good-lift-pump.html |
