Headlight Malfunction
So I was driving on Friday night and had all my front lights on-driving, headlights and fog-since the weather was crummy and I was on a dark, somewhat rural route.
I decided to turn on my highbeams after I saw some turkeys on the side of the road and when I tried to use the stalk that controls them and my directionals, I got a nasty surprise-it turned all the lights off.
I got to my destination and tried again-it did that again, then they turned on, then they didn't do anything, then the highbeams turned on with no input from me. It was raining, if that matters.
Now the switch just turns the lights off. None of the other stuff happened again. Where do I start, what do I troubleshoot, and should I be planning to take off the steering wheel to look at the cluster switch there?
Directionals are on same stalk and working fine with the usual up/down movement. High beams use forward to flick quickly (that never worked) and backwards to turn on (worked fine til Friday.)
Thanks. It's a 1995 E300 Diesel, in case I forgot to say that.
