Best version of Java for EPC & Windows 10?
I saw someone mention JRE 10 update 80, but I can't find that in a search. I've got a new laptop I am trying to get to help me with my Merc!

Nobody else is cursed with Windows 10?

Avoiding 10 as hard as I can.....
I also hate 8.1 but can not take it off my newer laptop... |
Current version (ver 8 update 65) seems to work fine.
|
Thanks Frank, I will try that.
|
I have the current version running under (over?) Win-10 and EPC does OK—as good as it ever does!

I just went through this and found that using the current version of Java worked fine, but I could not use Microsoft Edge as the browser. I used Chrome and it worked fine.

I would still be using XP if I had a way.... I would hope that 10 is better than 8.1 but that seems like a left handed compliment at best... |
Well, that was The Most Painless experience... JRE 8/65, the first one that would work, and load EPC just like normal, no hiccup whatsoever.
|
Ugh
I have been unable to access EPC for a long time.
Read this post and thought "Hey it might work" Nope. Chrome on Win 7 pro Must not be holding my mouth right. Always says unable to process at this time................. UGH! |

Okay, I spoke too soon... I can get into the repair part just fine, but the actual EPC, not so much. I attempted it today, and got an error message I am unsure what to do with...
An error has occurred... The call to EPC net or WIS/ASRA net was not successful. Fault code: 1003 EWA-Host: refailfactory.mercedes-benz.com I should mention, I am in the sticks without WIFI, and I am connecting to the internet via cellphone tethering; its the best I can do right now. This May be the reason, but it might be nice to have confirmation of that. I was able to download the program from MB in about 2-3 minutes, but it won't completely open up. Any thoughts? |
Go into the Java control panel. Make sure "enable Java in browser" is checked. Set security to High. You may need to set the EPC site as an exception, as well.
|
I see a panel where it says 'Java Runtime Environment Settings', and an http address for Java listed. I can add another address; is this the panel to which you are referring? I hesitate to make too many changes without confirmation with this stupid thing, I had SO MUCH FUN getting it to run on XP.
Thanks for your patience. |
