Tip for Wagon owners... W123
You could save yourself trouble if you remove the back-up light from the bumper to change out the bulb. The rubber seal around the opening tends to occlude the lens, making it difficult to remove it without breaking it (they are pretty fragile). Instead, if yours aren't badly corroded, remove the (1) 10mm nut and pull the whole assembly off. Worked well with mine, but rust isn't bad on this car.
Once I had them dangling, I cleaned the lenses, and painted the reflectors with a brighter silver paint; made a Huge difference! I think I can back up now without hitting that barn I was worried about. FYI
