Yes we have paint issues here in Tucson, but as you see cars here never rust. The chassis will last forever and ever if you replace the rubber and paint it.

Source a crack free dash from someone in lives in a frozen wonderland and it'll be perfect.

Thumbs up what a score!

a free TD in Tucson? Man, I am envious! BTW, I am very near Tucson and would be happy to help your family friend dispose of any extra parts or cars!

Good luck with your new car and share some pics when you get it home.

Well, I knew from conversation that the front pair of mounts had been replaced recently. The vibration at idle indicated motor mounts or trans mount. When driving the car on the street, the driveline banged when the trans downshifted, which can be either the trans mount or the front flex disk.

Since I'm going to be maintaining the car remotely for the next year, I'll bring both items with me and change them out when I'm out next.

I'm now regretting junking a 280E with a perfect dash earlier this year. Not to mention giving away a pair of euro bumpers and headlights to a buddy from the 280TE which went at the same time. Which also had a trailer hitch..... Never say never......

The TD IS home. I'll join it when I retire next year.

Same radio that was in my 83 300D and 83 300SD. Same button layout as the GP radios in W124 series up to the early nineties, but a smaller LCD display. These early radios also had a feature that would allow you to program in an auto turn on at a specific time. Wouldn't want to miss Rush....

I have a huge soft spot for wagons, my lady does not.
I am sure she would learn the love, once she found the practicality.
They took many years to grow on me, now I simply love the way that they look.
We had just sold her 95 E320 wagon last month, and she was sad to let it go, but we needed to reduce the fleet. So, she was naturally enthusiastic about getting a replacement, and a diesel, well that's just even more better! Part of the justification is NOT having to move the car across the country. We've had a silver wagon in the fleet since 93, so my wife does not have be convinced of their utility!

It was their DD for 30 years, have over 2K into her, but she has been
purring great for the past 5.5 yrs.

Sure can`t beat free...she would have gone to PNP if the lady had traded her in.

Congrats on your free Wagon.

Yes, grew up in too stoned, got married and lived in Scottsdale for ten years, graduated ASU in engineering, worked for the Navy since. Wanted to be near the ocean after living in the desert, now I'm ready to go back to the warmth and low humidity!
