i need tires... help... please....

i noticed the tires on my 92 300d were quite dry rotted, like, i can see the cracks in between the tread lines. we are going on a trip around christmas so i would like to get new tires before then.

2 questions:
can i get some opinions on what you guys think are the best tires for quietness and long lasting tread? im not really concerned about snow or ice traction, but hydroplaning resistance would also be nice.

secondly, the car has on it 195/65 15s. on other cars, i have put a little wider tires on with good results. is that ok to do on our cars? by litte wider, i mean like a 205 width.
