Will A 722.317 W124 300D Transmission Fit A W126 350SDL With 722.361?
The transmission in my roommate's 1991 W126 350SDL has no reverse due to a bad reverse clutch pack. It's a 722.361 transmission.
I picked up a free transmission from dieseldiehard that was supposed to be from a W126 350SD. But now I am looking at the transmission and it has a 124 part number above the oil pan and at the rear of transmission by the yoke. It is also stamped 722.317 above the oil pan, so I would say it's actually a W124 transmission not a W126.
Is this going to bolt up fine, and is the gearing going to be the same? I wonder if I should just attempt to replace the reverse clutch pack on the original transmission.
