cheap borescope

Could this possibly be any good or at least useful?

6 LED 7mm Lens IP67 USB Android Endoscope Borescope Waterproof Tube Snake Camera for Android Phone and PC Sale - Banggood.com

I bought some bike lights from a similar place and they were acceptable. I figured why buy from the importer at $30 when the manufacturer was willing to sell for $6. I got lucky on the lights.

Yeah, I got mine on eBay though. Same price but if the boat sinks before it gets to you it's easy to get a refund.

Being a NOT smart phone user I bought the HF hand held unit on sale for $20something. The business end looks like the same thing as the ad showed but mine has a power source and a small screen. It works fine so I'd think this should be OK, too.

I was fascinated with the price and couldn't resist giving it a try.

I received five emails one of which offered 50 Bang points or something similar for verifying my email address. If anyone has taken the offer could you please share your experience.

Thanks

I bought a similar USB "endoscope" on ebay a few years ago. I just used it last evening to look inside the top of my 300D's radiator (w/ top hose off). It works well for things like that. The built-in LED illuminates it well. The software is a little fuss. This time was on a different laptop PC w/ Windows 10. I didn't fool w/ the CD that came w/ the camera. It is like a regular Webcam. I launched a program called "Camera" that I think comes w/ Windows. I then had to select it, instead of the PC's built-in webcam. Another Windows program only showed the PC's webcam and I couldn't find a way to switch. I think it was Windows "Movie Maker" or "Media Player".

I really like this unit. It has features that my current one does not have which is side view mirror and micro usb so you can use it with your Android phone. I think I am going to buy one. I'd get the 1M one and use an extension if I need it longer rather than get the longest 3.5M one.

I bought one of theI bought a similar USB "endoscope" on ebay a like 5 Years ago. I ran it from the mini CD that came with it by clicking on the Cammera Icon.

I only have used it one time on a Vehicle when I dropped a Nut in an in accesable place and wanted to know where it was before I stuck the Magnet down where it was. The endoscope was attached to A Laptop Computer.

I have used it to inspect my Teeth/Fillings quite a few times. Used the regular desktop computer for that.

I got one of these too, they work fairly well. Problem is that it cannot focus close up (like within 2 inches). So if you are trying to see in a constricted space it will be fuzzy.

Also it is not stiff, so you end up pushing on a rope trying to get it into a tight space.

Also camera-fi only works with the later Android versions. I had an old Android tablet with ice cream sandwich and it was too old to support the USB camera port function.

Luckily it came with a full size USB adapter so I used my son's old (ca 2011 HP cheap piece of junk) laptop and it worked great with the Windows 10 built in camera app.

I would have bought 2 since they were so cheap...not sure I would want to put it in my mouth after it had been stuck in an engine

Post Borescope

Sounds nice until I read the ' fuzzy @ 2" and not stiff ' .

I bought the cheapo Harbor Freight one and I have no misconceptions about how easily it'll break but I've used it a whole bunch now and it works perfectly .

Just remember to :

A. remove the crappo Chinese batteries it comes with before

B. forgetting where you put it safely away as those crappo batteries have a tendency to spoil and leak corrosive goop on the device destroying it because CHEAP CRAP .

Oops .

This may represent a business model change. Formerly, companies would buy overseas, ship container loads, mark up the price and sell either wholesale or retail. Now some of the foreign manufacturers are selling direct and essentially importing a piece at a time.
