Vacuum pump interchangeability question
Hey all,
I am swapping an OM617a into my '79 240D. I had a question regarding the vacuum pumps. Can I swap the vacuum pump from my OM616 (that was working well when my 240D ran last) onto the OM617 engine I'm rebuilding? It looks like it would bolt up, but I haven't pulled the vacuum pump from my old engine yet. Thanks Max

I am not 100% sure, but I think the old style pump cam was different...

IIRC it is possible to replace later style pump with early one and not vice versa. ![]() |
