That's not a bad idea about finding matching doors at a junkyard.

My W123 came with some rust and body damage from a garage door incident. I was able to replace the trunk lid and sunroof with perfect color matches and it is impossible to tell they came from donor cars.

That would at least cut down your cost for paint and "new" doors although you may be hunting for them for a while.

Or you could forego matching doors and drop a line to the guy from LA who has clean doors for sale for w123s. He had a listing in the used parts for sale section a few weeks back. User name: upod.

I backed out of a deal with him so the least I can do is give him a shout out.

He will give you a deal and ships via Greyhound so not expensive.

Maybe you (the owner) settled to easy with the Insurance Co. Who was at fault in the accident. If it was the other guys fault I would tell the Insurance Company to buy one for you of comparable value. I can't believe one would settle at a little over $200.00 and keep the car. Tell them to get real.

I received ACV for the vehicle as determined by USAA and their service CCC One Market Valuations. They deducted $225 from the settlement because I chose to retain the vehicle.

$225 is the salvage value, meaning the value of the metal in the vehicle by weight.

My argument is that the vehicle as is is worth well more than $225, as it is a operable vehicle in very good condition for its age, except of course for the obvious damage.

I also understand, however, that true value is only determined when buyer meets seller...

Just curious - how much was your ACV check for?

Where (zip code) is this car located?

I would have no hesitation driving this car from Dallas to Columbia...

lol ... I am a reformed horder, in remission. I have a shell or parts car to liquidate as well as around few thousands bucks worth of parts to finally part with. It has taken me over a solid year just to clear out my garage where I can park my current MB project. DO NOT TEMPT ME ...:D
