W124 V8 FUEL TANK IN A W124 300D?

I have a 91 300d with a rotten fuel tank.
Went to Pik a Part and got a good w124 400e tank. Tank looks to be the
same, but there is a large white plastic piece over the fuel strainer in the
400e tank-?? Also the filler neck of course has the gas restricker
piece unlike the diesel filler neck. Tank fuel strainer will be changed to
the diesel version. Fuel sender tube looks to be the same.
Anyway to use the 400e tank
