'85 w123 sedan rear shocks
I'd like to replace my rear shocks soon. Can anyone confirm which part number is the "comfort" series? I'd assume it is the less expensive one: (Part #: 123-320-01-31-M12)

Ok I am being a PITA here, but have you considered Sachs?
Sachs are an OE supplier. May not be available from Pelican. They are cheaper and frankly have a better quality control rep these days, vs. Bilstein. Also Bilstein comforts aren't a noticeable improvement over stock. Personally I have always gone HD with my rear shocks on these cars. I find the OE shocks too soft. Just my personal opinion.

I'm running Bilsteins on the front, so I think it makes sense to stick to the same manufacturer on the rears most likely. Really thought those were the OES/suggested replacements, but I could be wrong.
Aaaand just noticed that the Shock Absorber 1233200131 - Bilstein - Mercedes-Benz - 123-320-01-31-M12 | Pelican Parts is listed as standard not HD on the product page, not sure how I missed that. Sorry for wasting people's time ![]() |

Bilsteins were OE to the w123. But Sachs was also. It really depended on what supply they had at the time. One of my w123s had Sachs from the factory and the other had Bilsteins. So really for replacements, it just a matter of preference. However, I do find Sachs a bit more firmer than the Bilsteins comforts. But not as firm as Billy HD's.

I would find the PN on the front shocks and match them were I doing my car. I have always had good fortune with anything Bilstein and prefer HD on the SD. I'm sad that some say quality is declining. I hope it ain't so but don't need shocks so don't need to decide.
