1995 E300 - preparation for the next 300k miles
I had been trying to buy an aquantenaces 95 E300 for the last 3 years as he was the original owner and has had incredible maintenance done and anytime anything broke he had it fixed. He finally sold it to me in January and I have had a blast going through it, learning it and getting the little things that a non mechanical owner does not notice.
![]() After reading about several owners with vacuume pump issues I thought I would proactively change mine. I found a original Pierburg unit for $277.00 and got it ordered. I have already replaced the serpentine belt, tensioner spring and shock, idler and lever so I had to take all of that back off again. But, to my surprise the original (dated 95) was the same closed bearing design as the new one. Even more awesome was the condition of the bearing! Amazing. Timing device was awesome as well , all for 300k. See new/old pic... ![]() ![]() I am glad I changed it for piece of mind, after all that's a lot of miles. Next up.....heater hoses. They are all original and I want to have total reliability. The plastic Y by the brake booster looks like a real mother on the bottom side. I can't even see the hose clamp end. I am glad this is not my daily driver so can enjoy garage time. I have 4 MB products so I have the maintenance routine down, but this 124 chassis is my favorite. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
