Interesting Topic in SAE Mag

As a retired SAE member I get the magazine every month. This month they have an article of the new 2.0 liter Diesel. It's an interesting engine in many ways but perhaps most interesting is that it's Mercedes' first all-aluminum Diesel. To make this work it runs forged steel pistons in a treated aluminum bore. Also of note, all the emissions gear (cooled EGR, PM filter and the rest of the aftertreatment system) is integral with the engine, keeping the total package size and mass to a minimum. The author was impressed with the total package though I'm sure it's well out of my price range.

Sounds like the perfect candidate for a swap into an S10.
