i replaced the schraeder valves and threw nitrogen into the system and gas was rushing out at the compressor. It looks like the seals i bought are not fitting correctly on the back of the compressor. I bought this compressor.
and i am wondering what are the correct seals for this thing. It is very obvious gas is leaking at the compressor seals... i guess i will have to wait and see if there are more leaks after i plug this one. |

Do you have a vernier caliper? Your best best is to take measurements of everything (washers, depth of ports on compressor, protrusion of manifold and pick the correct washers rather than trial and error.

I had a post with pics of a few different R4 compressors I had which I took apart to take pics of the ports, washers and manifold. Do a search and see if you can find it. I don't have time to look now.

car is running cold now. All is well. I used the yellow and green seal and everything seems to be going well so far. The only kind of weird thing... intermittently i will hear a whooshing noise from the fan area for about 5 seconds or so and then it will turn off... and then on again and off. The fan is consistently blowing fine. I am wondering if this is something with the expansions valve and adding and removing refrigerant to the evap?

There are several posts about the R4 seal washers. But, since you haven't found them, I post below the local notes I filed away (have posted before). I don't see a "GM Pad" in your photo that looks like my R4's (yellow & green washers). But, even R4's sold for our M-B have varying pad designs, as did GM over the years, so follow funola's suggestion.
