85 300D with Cali Emission feeling fuel starved
Hello Folks
So I found a very nice Arizona sedan with 200,000 miles and zero rust on it. It has the California emissions on it, with the replacement/recall canister on it as well. So, I had an 85 300TDT for 10 years and 150k miles that finally rusted out so I "think" I know how these cars should drive. This one feels fuel starved and the transmission shifts with the super hard and loud "thud" about 75% of the time. The car seems about 50% slower than it should be off the line and this is about 80% of the time. It feels nice and perky and fast the other 25% of the time. I have changed out fuel filters and the valves have been adjusted and that made it better but not perfect like it should be. As an aside I can also "chirp" the tires between 1st and 2nd gear about 10% of the time. I just driving it a little more agressively than normal and the first shift is just silly where the tires fully chirp and its crazy fast off the line. Any ideas on this? Help? Please? Thanks |

Use a pressure gauge on the ALDA Valve's pipe to see if abnormally high (or low) intake pressure .
Just because it has a replacement particle trap doesn't mean it's not clogged . Once you sort it out you're going to LOVE this car ! .
