Haynes 124 repair manual.

Anybody use this for 300SDL info on the 603? I like the Haynes manuals for various things, previously I used Haynes 123 Diesel manual for help with my 300SD as there is no Haynes 126 manual of any sort.

In my experience, Haynes manuals are only good for emergency toilet paper, and they don't even do that well. They try to cover too many different things with too much generic info. A lot of the more important stuff (electrical and vacuum) are often left out to keep it "simple". Unfortunately it's usually the stuff you need...

Buy a CD copy of the factory service manual or use the Startek site and you'll be leaps and bounds ahead of that lousy Haynes "manual"

Counterpoint - it's okay. I don't think it contradicts the FSM though the 126 FSM scans have the 603 cam tower loosening sequence backwards. 124 FSM scans have it right. Easier for me to use than firing up the PC and looking for the right section in the FSM. IIRC there are a couple of tips around special tools. Always a plus for me.

That's sort of my take. It's frequently not that helpful but sometimes will have a bit of info that I found nowhere else. I need to get the FSM soon. This is my first Mercedes daily driver in a long time. The last ten years it's been one of two '87 325i(s-plural) or my Chev van. For the Bimmer I have the Bentley and the Haynes. Sometimes the latter will do better than the former but only for brief stretches. Between those two I had it pretty good.

The STAR Tek site only has the 123, 124, 107 and 201 FSMs on their MB Workshop Resources dropdown list.

The 126 FSM is not listed but it is hosted on their server.
Here's the link: 126 FSM

If you really feel the need to have one get it used on eBay or maybe Amazon. No use paying the full price for it.

Here's the link: 126 FSM
I perused that earlier and ran into some trouble - a couple of links I clicked came up empty, with red font telling me 'no luck' basically. Your link seems to work better, I'll look into it. So is this the same software as is in the FSM?

Waste of a good set of Trees

Nothing Haines prints is accurate enough to trust with anything more complicated than a Unicycle!

AFAIK it is the FSM.
The links are browser dependent.
Chrome opens almost everything on the FSM except the electrical components location link.
Internet Explorer seems to open all the links on the FSM.
