Getrag 265/6 to om617 in w123

Hello, i recently purchased an om617 swapped 1981 240d that i will be taking delivery of soon. The owner also swapped a getrag 265/6 5 speed in. He gave the swap description as:

"It’s a 240d bellhousing, 1/2” adapter, input extension e24 clutch disc, m110 flywheel cutdown to accommodate the big clutch cover. W201 slave cylinder. It uses a 123233 auto trans mount. Throw out bearing is big 6 e28. Clutch fork modified stock"

I see there is some discussion on here about this, but not within the last 10-15 years. I would love to talk to anyone else who has done this swap to compare notes, but it looks like anyone who has done this (lutztd, granimal) does not come on here much anymore.

He seems extremely knowledgable and the build is very very nice, i am sure i will be sorting out odds and ends. This is my second swapped vehicle i have owned. I want to make a reliable play car out of it, and it would be to have some spares of the one-off stuff.

Thanks!

So, what's here? Is this post about "diesel"? Nope. It's about a 123 with a 617. Standard issue.
It has been equipped with what apparently is a BMW 5-speed Getrag and BMW clutch parts. This would have been better posted to the performance/modifications section. Specific questions could be addressed there.

It seems to me he is looking for some input on the car. People often post here because this section of the forum is reputed to contain some wisdom.

As for the swap, if it all seems to work correctly I'd change the lube in it and drive it.

Is the swap done or is it a partial project? Maybe repost in the perf/mod section and keep us posted with pics and video. I am interested to see how it performs over time.

Thanks, this is why i posted over here. I feel like i have learned a lot off oddball wisdom here that other places lack. I have only found one person who has done this in a w123, and it was a long time ago. It is however a common swap in the pagoda world, and i have parsed some usable info together.

I think i will take your advice and drive it. The previous owner put a lot of work into it. I will post some specs below and maybe start a new thread as i dig into it more in the mods section.

In terms of it being a project, it still needs some things sorted out. Pump timing, it needs a valve adjustment since it is a couple thousand miles off the rebuild. Tuning the wastegate, and setting the throttle linkage up better. Then just normal old w123 stuff like vacuum lines, interior trim, missing antenna etc.
You can see he did a lot of updates.
