Rear wheel bearing for my E300D Kombi W124 came through today. Proper German supplier, febi bilstien with made in Germany stamped on it, not of dubious Chinese origin. Trouble is the bearing is different to the one in my rear hub. The one in the rear hub is recessed on the inner face, this being the only face I can see. The outer face is still under the outer axle flange so not visible.
It looks as if the curved outer face of the CV sits snug inside the recess of the bearing when bolted up. Not so with the replacement which will mean the threaded portion of the CV will not project so far out of the hub where the hi torque nut screws on. Anybody had experience with this
