W123 VCV - side vacuum hose?

W123 VCV - side vacuum hose?

In checking my vacuum system on my base model 1983 300D, I noticed that I don't have a hose connected to the side of the VCV, only to the top. Looking a various google images, it seems like most do have a vacuum hose connected here. What hose, if any, should be connected here (red arrow below)?
