OM 616 Oil capacity (I know this has been beaten to death)
Today I changed the oil on my 240D and filled it with 6.5 Quarts of oil (perhaps a smidge less) as I read this was the "proper' capacity for an oil / filter change. I check the oil briefly when I filled it and it was exactly at the full mark, maybe a hair above. I then took the car on a 45 minute drive and decided to check the oil afterwards. When I pulled the dip a few minutes after shutting down the engine it reads roughly 1/4" over the full mark.
Should I drain some out or let it burn off? I would love to not have to get back under the car and let some out as its messy but I'll wait to hear what you all do. The car does not consume/leak too much oil. Typically I add 1 to 1.5 quarts over the span of 3k miles between oil changes. |

No worries. It's not real high and it seems like you'll use it up anyways as leakage or blowby.

Suction on dipstick tube will remove oil slowly.
