Seriously lost on this electrical issue. 87 300d

I made the dumbest mistake and I am here to admit it... I had the ignition on while working with the instrument cluster and the ground touched something and shorted something out. I went to go plug everything back in and it cooked up the instrument cluster.. The side where tbe oil pressure is, coolant and fuel is the side where it cooked. Smoke came out after 10 seconds of having the key on. It also blew out the fuse #9 for the interior lights..

I consulted the w124 zone manual and I'm still confused as to where to look and what to look at. The instrument cluster section isn't of much help on page 81.

I was wondering if theres a module that got damaged or I destroyed the whole harness.

I am very frustrated, electrical is not my strong suit...
