om616 240d part question

So what is this? Does it have to do with the vacuum pump? It leaks on mine. I cleaned it out very well til it was 100% ish dry and checked after one use and it had oil in it.

Trying to recall but I think there is a cap/plug missing. It covers the intermediate shaft for the injection pump. There is a bushing in the bottom that wears out and allows the gear to ride too high.

It is the top bushing for the oil pump drive shaft. There is a flat washer and an o-ring under the cap which seals it.

The hex enables the threaded in cap to be R&Rd.

As stated, new o-ring and crush washer and you’re back in business. Had the same issue back when.

Thank you! Does rhis indicate anything other than leaking gasket from old age? Any indications w the oil pump?

It doesn't indicate other problems; but, I would inspect the bottom of the bushing for excess wear. Wear on the bottom of the bushing allows the gear to ride/mesh too high on the shaft that drives the oil pump.

Ride too high on the shaft/gear that drives the advance mechanism and cam for the vacuum pump, not the oil pump. My mistake.
