1980 sd block coolant drain location
I have a 1980 300sd, Need to locate the coolant drain on the block. What side of the block is this on, and any specifics would help, Thanks

It should be just ahead of the starter beside the block heater.

Thanks, That looks to be the area where its leaking. I just had my coolant replaced along with some other service and I think he may not of got it tight enough.

It's a 17MM ATF plug, get the aluminum crush washer before you fool with it, this is a very common problem ~ now you know one more incompetent and dishonest 'mechanic' who's not worthy of checking your oil
.

I am betting that the majority of mechanics would not have bothered to remove the block drain plug in the first place. (Maybe this dishonest mechanic removed it just so he could steal the seal ring.)

He tried and made a mistake, he prolly didn't even know there's a seal ring, go buy two new seal rings and deliver to him and ask that he make it right .
Don't expect him to do it whilst you watch ~ I'm the only Mechanic I know who'll work on hot engines . As long as it gets fixed you're good to go ~ pick your battles carefully, this is one you won't win .

Actually he is from germany and went to the school there for Mercedes and Audi, I met his dad one day and he used to have a shop in Austria years ago and his son worked there. It's funny you mention the stealing of the washer because my A/C didnt work after either and all of my R12 was gone and when I went to recharge it My high pressure side started leaking. The other work he did for me that day was replacing the motor mounts. Bet he disrupted my A/C line while doing the mounts. Putz
