722.3 elements and relation

Hi, I saw this chart (pls see attached) on another post. How do you read it?

If I try to read the table,
1-2 requires B1

2-3 requires K1

3-4 requires K2 and K1?

How about downshifting?
2-1? is that the one marked in (x) which is K2?

The table illustrates the operating elements (brakes, clutches, & freewheel) that are applied to achieve each ratio.

1st gear:
For transmissions that normally start in first, brake B2 is applied, and the Freewheel (a one-way roller clutch, aka, a sprag) locks two shafts together.
For transmissions that normally start in second, brake B2 is applied, and a forced application of clutch K2 is used to lock the two shafts together, rather than the Freewheel.

2nd gear:
Brake B1, and brake B2 are applied.

3rd gear:
Brake B2, and clutch K1 are applied.

4th gear:
Clutch K1, and clutch K2 are applied.

Reverse:
Brake B3, and Freewheel are applied.

Thanks for the reply, Frank

If I want to know more about the Valve body and the function of each, where can I get that?

Example :

Shifting from 1-2 : 52 Sensor B1
Shifting from 2-3 : 48 Senor K1
Shifting from 3-4 : 49 Sensor K2

If '52 Sensor B1' is for shifting 1-2, what is the purpose of '57 Control Valve- sensor B1'. Same question for 'Control Valve - Sensor K1/K2'

What would be responsible for deceleration 2-1? Would it be '56 Shift Valve - Overrun' In another diagram, the name is 'Deceleration Control Valve'?

The valve body parts labels are misleading in that the items that you have called out, the various "sensors", are actually pressure accumulators. An accumulator functions to dampen, or soften, the application of the operating element with which it is associated. Example: the accumulator K1 is in parallel with clutch K1; when pressure is applied to clutch K1, accumulator K1 is also pressurized. Because of the spring behind the accumulator piston, the rate of pressure rise is modulated, and the rate of application of clutch K1 is also modulated.

Hi, I uploaded another diagram where the labels are more attuned to yours.

So, If I'm trying to troubleshoot

1) 1-2 harsh upshift, what should I look into?
B1 Accumulator
B1 Accumulator control valve
2) how about a harsh downshift from 2-1

3) these 2 questions first, but basically I'd like to know the function of each so that when I troubleshoot a symptom, I know which part I should look into

thanks

Before going any further, you might let us know what model year, chassis, & engine you are working on.
