98 E300 Which wires correspond to which glow plugs?
Finally had a glow plug go out on the 98 E300. Can anyone tell me which color of wire corresponds to which glow plug? Thanks.

On the Glow Plug Wire Connector where it plugs into the Glow Plug Relay the connector is numbered.
You can put your volt/ohm meter set on Ohms and stick one probe on the female ends on the connector and apply it to the glow plug end of the wire and determine which number goes to which colored wire. As far as glow plug function goes it does not matter which glow plug a wire goes to but if a trouble code comes up it could be slightly harder to find the dead glow plug.

My connector is not numbered at all. But I have a spare controller and I am able to see numbers on the inside of it.

See the attached pic to se how mine are numbered. Even numbers on the left as you face the connector and odd numbers on the right. The smallest numbers are on the end opposite where the wires come out.

They did do the logical thing and use pin 1 for cylinder 1, pin 2 for cylinder 2, etc.
And of course the inline six has the cylinders numbered front to back.
