Fuel Pump Question
I need to know if while the engine is running the fuel pump alternates on and off or if it stays continues on until the engine is turned off.
Thanks |

If the engine is turning an om617 MB diesel injector pump is suppose to be pumping fuel.
BTW, on other cars with other engines it might vary.

I was not precise: I am talking about electric fuel pump.

Typically speaking, an electric fuel pump runs as long as the engine is running. Some of the newer cars use a PWM "duty cycle" to control the speed of the pump, but it will always be running.
