722.120 Rear Sensor Questions

Could someone please help me identify this sensor on the back of the 722.1? Is it a temperature sensor? It looks like the sensor on the intake manifold, does it detect pressure? Does the 722.3 have an equivalent?



it share a harness with the same wire that plugs into the kick-down switch.

Probably a pressure switch that eventually connects to a solenoid valve that alters ignition timing in high gear.

Transmission pressure sensor found in 1978-79 300SDs.
Wire goes to the "Overload Protection Device Switching Unit" in the PS footwell.

Used in 1978-79 to prevent transmission damage by eliminating the possibility of a first gear boost-assisted launch.
